Ben is a Bristol-based editor that has cut multiple award-winning short films, music videos and short-form series. He specialises in tackling sensitive topics, including male suicide prevention, sexual harassment in schools, FGM, racial and class inequality, and the celebration of the female form to name a few. He works quickly and collaboratively, giving particular focus to emotion and story in his cuts.
Ben has edited for drama, documentary, childrens' television, wildlife, music, trailers, commercials, showreels, weddings, promos and more. He has a great deal of experience editing both live action and animation, having worked with companies such as Netflix, BBC, Disney, HBO, A Productions, Aardman Animations, Silverback and BFI. He has also worked with performers such as Tom Davis, The Reytons and lostboy.
His short film Hungry Joe qualified for both BAFTA and Oscar consideration, won multiple prestigious awards worldwide, and was described by Short of the Week as 'one of the UK's great modern horror shorts'. He was a member of the team awarded with Best Short Form Limited Series by Jackson Wild for the How To Save Our Planet online content that accompanied Netflix's David Attenborough Our Planet series. Further details on these and other awards can be found on the films' respective pages.
He is proficient on Adobe Creative Cloud, Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro 7. He also regularly oversees the technical side of post-production, as post-producer, online editor and providing deliverables.
As well as filmmaking, Ben spends his spare time experimenting with 35mm photography and spoken word poetry.
Ben is currently cutting his debut feature film, pre-producing his self-funded documentary Working Class Ballet: about football and the denigration of the working-class community culture, and updating his showreel.
